The youngest of the primary races, aqahartis were born from the ashes of the Dwarven Civil War. A more in-depth analysis of that conflict can be found here.
In short, the aqahartis are merfolk adapted to walk on land. After realizing that living in the oceans made them vulnerable to the whims of land-dwellers, thousands of merfolk called out to their god, Tirronfin, in a plea for transformation. In the end, their call was answered by a group of dragons, who used their own magic to summon Sorosin. Sorosin granted the merfolks' wishes, transforming them into an amphibious race.
Height: - 5-6 feet
Unusual Characteristics: - Scales instead of skin. - Small protogills on neck that allow for breathing underwater. - Webbed hands and feet. - Scaly tendrils instead of hair.
Coloring: - Varied, depends on mood (normally a blueish-green. Can change from bright red to a deep green).
Other notes: - Because of the way they rose from the waters and had to conquer an entirely new land, aqahartis tend to be far more adventurous than other species. Any time a new frontier opens, you can be certain that an aqahartis will be there. That said, the lack of truly unexplored land in Calsin has led many aqahartis to turn that exploration to politics, trying to find new ways of exploiting or exposing people.
