Massive, bird-like creatures, blood hawks are nightmarish monsters often used by different countries in both combat and espionage. Born from powerful magic, blood hawks have the ability to peer into the minds of their prey to determine weakness. While this initially helped them survive the hostile lands of Calsin, expert mages have been able to domesticate the birds and train them to assist in hunting down more sentient prey. They can be trained to locate people of almost any ideology, targeting people of specific religions, ethnic preferences, or even magical aptitude.
While these birds are often domesticated, there is still a large wild population. In the wilderness, these birds will often ignore larger creatures entirely, focusing only on the small and weak prey. However, in times of famine or drought, they have been known to work together in flocks to bring down larger animals, even vampires or werewolves.
Other notes: - As cyclopes have no understanding of boundaries, there is no particular reason why they can't be found throughout the entire continent. However, noisemakers have been set up along the border of the Scorched Lands, which help ensure that all escaping cyclopes are drawn into kill zones. Additionally, the same enchantments that keep the giants behind the mountains help keep the cyclopes in check as well, meaning that cyclopes seen outside either of those two lands are extraordinarily unusual. And, by extension, dangerous.
