My body aches over the ocean...
My body aches over the sea... My body aches over the ocean... Please bring back my body to me! ...yep... A quick look at what I've gotten done and what I plan to do! Last week: - TEQ Appendix E: Shaft of Fire: Controllers (Chapter 51) Behind the Scenes: - It's week three of the sickness, with no end in sight. My nose is so clogged I can only breathe through my mouth, eating or drinking requires quick gulps with large gaps between in order to avoid suffocation. *note, the above is better if read in a forlorn and hopeless voice, an individual who knows their doom is upon them* Anyhow... Yeah. Just as with last week and the week before, I was super sick this week. Thankfully, it was centered more on my wife and I than on my daughter, which was a refreshing change (if you're not a parent, this will likely not make sense). I didn't get as much done as I would have liked, but given my sleeplessness and issues breathing, I did accomplish more than I thought I would get done. That being... Volume 4 of TEQ is now finished!!! I have to say (and I realize that I'm a bit biased), I'm really happy with the way it all tied together. A lot of story threads from the three previous volumes all came together to form what I think is really going to be a satisfying conclusion to the angel storyline. Once I finished up with that, I began plotting and working on the early stages of Volume 5, both the start of a new adventure and the continuation of the adventures from before! I just have to say that I'm SO excited at where TEQ is headed and how thrilled I am to have all of you along with me! Next week: - TEQ Appendix E: Shaft of Fire: Sheep (Chapter 52) Behind the Scenes: - So... Here's the deal. Now that TEQ Volume 4 has wrapped, I'm left at a bit of a crossroads. I have a number of projects I need to be working on, including Apocolyps Squad III, but... I also have a handful of other projects that I'd like to test out. I have four or five of these ideas, some of which are books and some of which are other cool things that I'd like to do with TEQ, and I'm really not sure which ones are worth pouring time and effort into, given that I don't exactly have a great deal of time at this moment. As such, I think that most of this next week is going to be spent testing the waters with some of these. For the books, this would involve writing the first ten thousand words or so to get a feel for whether or not the story is there, for the other projects, it would be putting together some of the first few steps to see how feasible the project may or may not be. I know that may sound frustrating, so let me provide a quick example. Earlier this summer, one idea I was playing around with was an online choose-your-own-adventure-style story set in the world of TEQ. I found a program that would allow me to write such a story, and began working on plotting it out. However, it quickly became apparent that this type of story simply wasn't going to work with my writing style. The narrative beats weren't clicking, the characters weren't believable, and I wound up scrapping the project (at least for the time being). The point is, I love writing in the world of The Eternal Quest and want it to turn into something truly incredible. With luck, this next week will give me a few more ideas on how exactly to accomplish that goal, and I can move forward from there with a bit more confidence! Until next time! Dakota
