Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it's a Thursday.
But... I won't be here Friday!!! Which, you know, most of you could probably guess if you were simply given the information that I was posting a day early. Anyhow... A look at what I got done and what I plan to do! This week: - TEQ Appendix D: Blood Moon Rising: Shield of the Realms (Chapter 48) Updated and new maps: *takes deep breath* - Dirnor - Distisil - Istinis - Notirot - Sintison - Sournous - Tifingor - Taninor - Tornor Behind the Scenes - Well... The above list of maps should pretty much sum up what I've been up to! Now, I can already hear your questions. "How did you manage to do all of that?" In short... I kinda cheated. Don't worry, I didn't steal anything! But if you'll check the pages, I didn't actually write any of the lore for the various countries. That's coming, don't worry!!! But I wanted to get the physical maps done first, and then move on from there. Focus on one thing, then focus on something else. And yeah, that's pretty much been my week! Next week: - TEQ Appendix E: Shaft of Fire: Fortresses (Chapter 49) Behind the Scenes: - First things first, I have ONE more map to finish!!! It's actually about halfway done, I would probably have finished it by now if I hadn't stopped to write this update. So hopefully Delsinar will be online by the end of the day! Now, if you're an avid follower of The Eternal Quest, you'll realize that this actually doesn't cover all of the countries. Notably, it leaves out Gintor, Glintor, Donitor, and the orcish nations. And there's a reason for that! Simply put... There's much less to actually diagram of those various countries. Let me explain. The maps that I've been putting together have been primarily focused on political boundaries and official designations, as precluded by Calsin's primarily late-middle-age civilization (while I fully realize that there would be anachronisms abundant (I blame magic) if you were simply to transcribe Calsin's civilization into the corresponding period of development on Earth, I did try to focus most of Calsin's development around civilization towards the end of the medieval times, just before the Enlightenment). All of which is to say: The civilization of these other six countries don't line up with Calsin's primary civilization. Donitor, a land of vampires, werewolves, and other creatures, is still stuck in a very primitive state. The orcish nations, while benefiting from much of Calsin's technology, are locked in constant war, resulting in ever-shifting boundaries. Glintor and Gintor, nations of vampires and giants, respectively, are both so closed off from the larger continent of Calsin that their societies are unknown to most outside scholars. As such, I just don't know how to make maps for these nations that would remain consistent with the maps that I've produced for all the other nations. And I want the website to look snazzy. All that to say... I'm uploading one more map and then I'm probably going to focus most of my time on fleshing out the actual lore for the map. I may also work on writing more TEQ, but we'll have to see how it goes! On one final note, though... As I said at the beginning, I'm going to be gone tomorrow for a conference with my church. I'm not anticipating that event impacting my productivity at all (in fact I'm rather hoping that it energizes me and brings even more productivity), but it is something to be mentioned. Anyhow, those are my plans! Until next time! Dakota
