It's finally Friday!
Free again! Got my motor running for a wild weekend! Or at least a weekend filled with nights of 8-hour sleep and plenty of rest in between. Which as a parent is basically the equivalent of throwing a wild party that winds up involving police (it's fun to talk about, but mostly only happens in movies). Anyway... A look at what I've gotten done and what I plan to do next! This week: - TEQ Appendix E: Shaft of Fire: Sheep (Chapter 52) Behind the Scenes: - I'm finally over being sick!!! And my daughter actually slept through (a few of) the nights this week! Oh, it feels so good to breathe through my nose! I'd forgotten what that was like. As I stated last week, my plan was to spend the majority of this week focusing on testing out some new ideas and seeing where things would wind up going. And... I think I've found that idea. Without going into too many spoiler-y details, I'm officially starting work on a project that I'm titling "Age of Saints." This will be a single, stand-alone story that's about as far from anything I've written as you can get. At the moment, I am 26,311 words into the project, and hope to increase that by a large amount over the next few weeks. For a brief synopsis, it's a post-apocalyptic zombie tale that focuses heavily on confronting a number of issues facing our world today. The more that I look at our current world... It's a mess. America is abandoning its allies, there are pagan statues in the Vatican, the list could go on for ages. Social media has become a war zone where people of differing ideologies put forth the best arguments for their position while ignoring anything that may speak to the contrary (and I put myself squarely in that category). And... I just want to write something to speak to that. For those worried that this will take away from my other projects: Please don't be! I want Age of Saints to be something truly thoughtful, something that isn't just thrown together willy-nilly. As such, I'm planning it out as a long-term project, something that I put down and pick back up as my schedule fluctuates, so I continuously have a new and improved mindset on it. I'll explain that a bit more in my plans for next week, but... Yeah. I'm really excited for this project, and really hope to see it come together over the next expanse of time! Next week: - TEQ Volume 4: Citizens of Ash: Ruin (Chapter 53) Behind the Scenes: - As stated above, my plan is to work primarily on Age of Saints. So... As I'm officially picking this extra project up, here are all my current projects: - The Eternal Quest - Apocolyps Squad III - Age of Saints Of these, The Eternal Quest is the only one on a strict deadline, though I DO want to get Apocolyps Squad III out as soon as possible. With that, my current plan is to write Age of Saints until it either concludes or reaches 100K. Once I reach that goal, I will switch fully to Apocolyps Squad III. In the meantime, I know that I've been struggling to get the lore of the maps fully fleshed out. This is due, in part, to the fact that it often takes a full day to create and sculpt that lore, and I've been forced to work in smaller and smaller chunks of time as my schedule continues to grow more chaotic. As such, I'm going to begin writing the lore in chunks. I'll try to keep you updated in these weekly updates, but hopefully those pages will begin to flesh out slowly over the next few months. I know that's a bit of a longer post, but it's been a bit of a larger week! Until next time! Dakota
