At a glance, satyrs are easy to mistake for sentient beings. Appearing to be a human/elven/goat hybrid, the satyrs lack any and all forms of natural intelligence, and typically seek only to kill. With their low intelligence and humanoid form, they are exceptionally susceptible to most forms of mind control, particularly dwarven control enchantments. Most satyrs in Calsin have been enslaved, though a substantial number still run free.
The satyrs were originally created during the Vampiric Wars, shortly after the humans made their escape from Donitor. The elven army, marching down to take care of the threat, created a vast race of minotaurs and satyrs to do battle, as they were thought to be immune to vampire bites. Upon reaching the land and discovering that the orcs had already taken care of the problem, the elves simply turned the satyrs free and went back home, leaving the monsters trapped beyond the mountain range and the vast Vamsick desert. Unlike the minotaurs, the satyrs were able to survive the perils of the desert, and soon began to expand back out into the continent.
Height: - 4-5 feet
Characteristics: - Lower legs of a goat, torso/head of a human, goat horns - As Satyrs eat only plants for sustenance, they kill for pleasure, making them especially deadly.
Habitat: - Donitor (highest concentration) - Mountains and forested regions
Other notes: - While they are far from the most deadly creatures in the world, satyr attacks are considered some of the most terrifying, as the assault can often be mistaken at first for a feral or berserk human.
