Noted Lore: - After Calsin had been created and the land populated with kinder species, Tirronfin journeyed across the realms and came to Calsin. She peered into the depths of the ocean, noticing vast monsters and expansive plains, but no sentient life. In her wisdom, she took a colony of elves and transformed them into merfolk, allowing them to explore the depths. She also gave them their magic, taking away the ability to draw magic from nature, but granting them the power of voice and deception, wise skills to have in a harsh ocean.
Conventional lore: - While it has long been established that the merfolk came from elven populations, it is likely that Tirronfin is simply the way that the merfolk perceived an appearance of Persphone. Since Tirronfin's first appearance, there have been no recorded interventions in merfolk life on her behalf (while Persphone has, on several occasions, reached into the seas to assist the merfolk). Additionally, Tirronfin was perceived as being female, a trait not often exhibited by gods (who, despite being genderless, often take on male forms to appear more intimidating).
